Google Meet

Translate Google Meet whatever your Workspace plan is.

Meet's translated captions depend on the Workspace edition behind the meeting. Sigmise reads the audio on your own computer instead, so the languages are your choice.

Free plan: 120 minutes every month. macOS and Windows.

How to translate a Google Meet call

  1. 01

    Install Sigmise

Download the macOS or Windows build. Meet runs in your browser exactly as before — no extension, no permission to request.

  2. 02

    Pick the two languages

Choose the spoken language and the one you want to read. Both can change mid-call.

  3. 03

    Join Meet and press record

Open the meeting link as usual. Captions appear as people speak, original above translation.

  4. 04

    Keep the transcript

Meet captions are gone when the tab closes. Your transcript, summary and action items stay.

Meet's translated captions, or a translator on your side

Google Meet can translate captions on selected Workspace editions. Whether the meeting you are in qualifies is usually decided by someone else.

Google Meet translated captions

  • Available on selected Workspace editions, including Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus
  • Rollout can be gradual, so the option is not always there when the edition says it should be
  • Built into the meeting — nothing to install
  • Captions are not kept as notes you can search later

Sigmise

  • Works in any Meet call you can hear, including ones hosted by other organizations
  • 31 languages transcribed, 28 translated, chosen by you rather than by a Workspace admin
  • Nothing joins the call and no one sees a recorder in the participant list
  • Transcript, summary and Ask AI stay with you after the call

Google Workspace edition requirements checked on 2026-09-20. Recording and consent rules still apply — tell people when your workplace or local law requires it.
